Downtown Revitalization

After researching the city of Winnsboro's website I have found only a small amount of text on the homepage regarding Winnsboro's involvement in the Downtown Revitalization program. This is somewhat troubling to find because the Winnsboro community’s culture seems to be deeply rooted in its history and it would be a shame to let this historical downtown fall apart.

I think an addition of some historically significant information about some of the downtown buildings and community would be a good addition to the city's website to create some interest in the downtown from other people than the government. Advertising this may just bring donations or more government funding. On the city's website it is even mentioned in small text "Winnsboro was awarded “Best Afternoon Stroll” and “Best Small Town Downtown” in 2008 by readers of County Line Magazine." This is something that needs to be flaunted on the main page of the website not hidden through links and published in small text. To draw in money from visitors you first have to catch their attention when advertising yourself. This has been done fairly well so far but can be improved. To read about the wonderful things that were written about Winnsboro go to the Informative Links tab above and go to the County Line Magazine link. The Texas Downtown Association website link is http://www.texasdowntown.org/. On the website there is all the information needed for a town to be fully involved in the downtown revitalization program. If help is needed and the city officials need to be educated about the program, the TDA will put on seminars for a minimal cost here is some info below.

It is great that the Winnsboro community is a part of the Texas Downtown program just make sure that it is used at its full potential to get everything you can out of it. Continue to be the best small town down town in upper east Texas and strive to be the very best in Texas.
